It has honestly been a privilege to own and run RpgM.org. For the last year and four months, I have done little more than write code and make a website. It was the people that came to the website that built the community, not me. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most interesting people I’ve ever met online during my time running RPG Manager, and for that I feel fortunate - for that I feel that I surpassed all the expectations I had for this website. As this community ends, and we move on in our lives, I want to leave a message of reflection and sincerity.
My staff knows how much I appreciate their support. I am absolutely sure that RpgM.org would not have been the same without my staff - Iceplosion (my right-hand man), Sionysus, GubiD, and Yoder. They ran this site like a professional team, and I’m very proud to have been part of that team. They executed the roles of staff members with grace, and we worked together as a team to create a reputable and prideful community. I would highly recommend any one of them for a staff position on any community-based website. They’re competent, smart, and likable - all excellent traits.
To my members: You are really the ones who made this community. You’ve allowed me to express myself by way of forming a highly-functioning online community that ran smoothly and yielded rewarding results. With every contest, no matter how small, I saw creative talent and eagerness; with every problem that arose, no matter how large, I saw dedication and maturity; and with every triumph, no matter how insignificant, I saw pride and accomplishment. From the cheerful Lux and EndlessFantasy, to the earnest boltfox20 and Lyric - each one of you added a little something special to our community. Thank you all; you turned a dream into a reality.
To my affiliates: You introduced me to your worlds, and because of that I met many new people. While I wish we could have done more inter-community projects, I think we learned from each other and benefitted from our relationships. I am always redefining the way I think of an “affiliate”. With this experience, I think I’m truly starting to grasp the meaning of the word.
Lastly, to all other RPG Maker communities: Thank you for giving me inspiration to build this website. In more ways than one, I’ve learned from each community I visited: What works and does not work. Through good and bad experiences, I was able to help make the members of my own community happier and healthier - and that was the most important thing to me.
Thank you all, once again, for making this possible. I am walking away from this experience with something very real, and I hope you are too.
Sincerely,
David
